The Whale Story, by Tess Martin.
A charming, animated-by-hand little anecdote about a diver and a whale.
Student Film Awards (from CollegeHumor).
My favorite is ‘best background hiss.’
Here is a really nice write up in the City Pages.
-You can hear a roundtable discussion about the feature omnibus In Passing over at the Syndromes and a Cinema podcast. They discuss Remodernism in depth, and then give their takes on each short film of which In Passing is comprised.
-FAUX, my recent GLBT feature, has been on the back burner since its sold-out Minneapolis, MN premiere a year ago, but has garnered interest from Brooklyn art gallery Leviticus Studio for a showing/installation within the new year. This has spurned me to return to it, and subsequently, I have begun to gut the film and reconstruct it from scratch.
-Speaking of Minneapolis, the good folks at Take-Up Productions have curated a series entitled MNUnearthed, which features experimental and art house MN-made films that found success internationally, but not in their native state. They have included my thesis feature FADE, which is screening January 4th of the new year. Metronome, my most recent short coming off the screenings as part of In Passing, will precede the feature, finally appearing in its home state.
Music video by David Fincher for Trent Reznor and Karen O.’s cover of Immigrant Song.
Proposal teaser for my feature in development, FRAY.
Short film. Metronome. 9min. 2010.
My contribution to the Remodernist collaborative feature film In Passing, which premiered in Bristol, UK and just recently in Manhattan.
An old man fading in and out of his memories contemplates how his life will end in assisted living care. As he begins to feel like a burden to his family, his young grandson comes to visit him.
Written based on experiences with my grandmother, starring my father.
A delightfully odd short film by my friend Lee Filipovski, starring Ingrid Diaz.
Lee cast Ingrid after she saw ‘Liska.’
I’m a rather large fan of the work of animator Matt Reynolds, my former roommate and fellow FAMU classmate in Prague.
Supposedly, Jim Jarmusch and Bela Tarr will be in attendance. Unfortunately, since the time of the screening changed, I won’t be around to find out. Perhaps one of you can send me a picture.
